The problem
UK job seekers were losing out to ATS filters before a human ever read their CV. Generic advice wasn't enough — they needed a tool that could analyse their CV against a specific job description, explain exactly why it would or wouldn't pass, and help them fix it.
What I built
Job Space AI is a full SaaS product with three core AI features:
- CV Generator — structured inputs feed an LLM that produces a polished, ATS-optimised CV tailored to the user's role and experience level
- ATS Scanner — upload a CV and paste a job description; the tool scores keyword match, identifies gaps, and explains what to change
- Mock Interview — AI-generated interview questions based on the role, with follow-up responses and feedback on answers
The product has full auth, user dashboards, subscription tiers, Stripe billing, usage limits, and email flows. Everything a commercial SaaS needs — built by one person.
Technical highlights
CV and document parsing required extracting clean structured text from uploaded PDFs and Word files, then feeding that into the LLM with enough context to produce useful, role-specific output rather than generic rewrites.
The ATS scoring logic uses a structured LLM prompt with a defined rubric — keyword density, role alignment, formatting signals — so scores are consistent and comparable rather than free-form opinions.
Rate limiting and usage controls sit in front of all AI endpoints via Upstash Redis, keeping infrastructure costs predictable under load.
